Wildlife Conservation Scholarship Honors Late Rio Leader
Kingsley Meyer, Jr.’s journey was one of dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to the preservation and stewardship of our natural world. From his early days spent in Rhode Island, to his extensive career at Rio Grande, Kingsley's love for the outdoors was ingrained in every aspect of his life.
Throughout his 32-year tenure at Rio Grande, Kingsley wore many hats. From his roles in adult education to his leadership as Chief Information/Technology Officer, Kingsley's impact was far-reaching.
But perhaps his truest passion lay in his support for the University of Rio Grande Wildlife Conservation program. He fostered vital relationships between Rio Wildlife Conservation faculty and the Bob Evans Farm, facilitating field activities and research that enriched the academic experience of countless students.
Kingsley's enduring legacy was honored with the establishment of the Kingsley Meyer Jr. Memorial Scholarship. It is a testament to his love for the outdoors and his unwavering commitment to the management of natural resources. Through the scholarship, Kingsley’s vision can be carried forward, empowering future generations of conservationists to continue his work and safeguard the beauty of our planet.
This year’s recipient of the scholarship, Logan Camp of Jackson, shares a love for outdoors.
“My pursuit of a career in wildlife conservation began as a young kid frequently being in the woods with my father,” said Camp. “I have always been fond of the outdoors and every component that plays a role in any given ecosystem.”
Camp is pursuing a degree in Environmental Science at Rio, where he will actively participate in habitat restoration, conduct wildlife monitoring studies, and help with environmental advocacy - all areas that Kingsley’s dedicated his life to.
