Advising
Advising at Rio follows the Appreciative Advising model. This is the practice of working collaboratively with students to understand their goals and dreams. This approach will help influence the student decision-making process through the college experience and beyond.
Our Student Success Coaches intentionally spend time building rapport and trust (Disarm) with you. Your success coach will learn about your journey to Rio, strengths, skills, and abilities (Discover). We will challenge you to Dream about your future, and then co-create a plan (Design), to help you achieve (Deliver) your goals. Finally, we challenge you to reach your true potential, while celebrating your accomplishments (Don’t Settle).
