Rio’s Symphonic Concert Band Invites Community Musicians to Join This Fall
University of Rio Grande and Rio Grande Community College Symphonic Concert Band is seeking local high school students and community members to join the ensemble for its upcoming fall season.
An initial organizational meeting will be held on Monday, August 24, at 6 p.m. in the Berry Fine and Performing Arts Center on the Rio campus. Following the first meeting, regular rehearsals will take place every Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the university band room.
The ensemble welcomes woodwind, brass, and percussion players of all experience levels. Participation is open to high school students seeking additional performance opportunities, as well as adult musicians interested in returning to their instruments and performing in a community-centered ensemble.
Throughout the semester, members will perform a diverse repertoire featuring traditional concert band literature, contemporary works, and seasonal selections. The season will conclude with several performances on the Rio campus.
"Our goal is simple: make great music together, support our community, and build a program everyone can be proud of," said Ryan Donini, Director of Bands at Rio. "It doesn't matter if you're preparing for college-level music study or dusting off your instrument after a long break. We would love to have you join us."
Individuals interested in participating or learning more are encouraged to contact Donini at rdonini@rio.edu. Additional information is available through the University of Rio Grande Bands Facebook page, where prospective members may also send direct messages with questions.
