University of Rio Grande to Host Annual RedStorm All-Abilities Track Invitational
Rio will welcome athletes from across the region on September 18 for the annual RedStorm All-Abilities Track Invitational, a long-standing tradition celebrating athletic achievement, inclusion, and community.
Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., with events taking place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
For more than 60 years, the RedStorm All-Abilities Track Invitational provides individuals with special needs the opportunity to compete in a variety of track and field events, including dashes, wheelchair races, softball throw, and long jump.
More than 300 athletes are expected to participate in this year's event, making it one of the region's largest inclusive athletic competitions. The invitational is supported by more than 150 Rio student volunteers, who help ensure athletes enjoy a safe, welcoming, and memorable experience.
"For over six decades, this event has provided athletes of all abilities an opportunity to showcase their talents, build confidence, and experience the excitement of competition," said Rio Athletic Director, Brandon Bias. "The RedStorm All Abilities Track Invitational is one of Rio Athletic’s most meaningful traditions, and we are proud to continue serving our communities through this event."
The invitational attracts schools, organizations, families, and supporters from throughout Ohio and West Virginia, creating a day focused on sportsmanship, determination, and celebration.
