As a native of Frankfort, Ohio and a first-generation college student, Condy Richardson’s (’94) athletic career ultimately led him to Rio. The track and field star didn’t know what to expect when he came to Rio, but it’s a decision he does not regret.

“My favorite memory from my time as a student are the friends that I made through cross country and track. Over the years, they have become my family and those relationships will last a lifetime.”

After working for many years away from the university, most recently as the Director of Admissions at Hocking College, Condy saw an opportunity to return to Rio and didn’t hesitate to take it.

“When the Director of Career Services position opened, I applied immediately. For me, this is like coming back home. It's like a full circle type thing.”

Condy now serves as the Director of Career Services, Alumni Engagement and Giving. He said that there is nothing more rewarding than having an impact on students daily.

“My highest priority is helping students to see the opportunities that are out there for them, my main goal when I got here was to try to help students that didn't have that outside influence to help them, to be able to provide them with all the possibilities that are out there for them,” he said. “I want to do everything possible to really help each student understand what their majors can lead them into and then what kind of job opportunities are out there.”

Reflecting on his professional career, Condy credits Rio for shaping both his career and professional growth.

“I feel like when I came here, Rio just basically taught me how to be an adult and how to be a good person and I think that's what really has shaped my life. Running for Coach Willey, you learn to be disciplined. You learn to be a hard worker at everything that you do. I feel like that helped me develop into a better person, and my experience here just taught me how to be an adult, and how to grow up.”

Condy looks forward to continuing the serve the student population but also engaging with alumni as well.

“I’m excited to hear stories from other alumni. I want to know about their experiences with Rio and how Rio helped make them who they are today.”
