Dear 2020 Graduates,
I would like to first congratulate you on this accomplishment. On behalf of the entire Rio Family, I am excited to celebrate your hard work and perseverance. You are a historic graduating class. One that was handed a great number of unexpected challenges and disappointments. You rose up. Not only did you take on those challenges with fortitude, you exemplified what it means to be a part of the Rio Family. I am honored that you will be the first graduates under my presidency at Rio Grande.
We have taken much consideration, care, and thought into making sure your successes are celebrated the way you want. Thank you to all who participated in our survey, we had an overwhelming response. More than 73% of you stated that you prefer a face to face commencement ceremony in August.
As a result, we are planning an August 29, 2020 evening commencement ceremony. We will begin working on plans for this special event, and share them with you in the coming months. If you are were unable to pick up your cap and gown on May 9, we will be happy to mail it to your home.
Please contact David Ding at 740-245-7274 or Sherri Jarrell at 740-245-7368 to arrange this.
All the best,
Ryan Smith, President
University of Rio Grande and Rio Grande Community College
