Pre-Hospital Emergency Services

EMTs function as part of a comprehensive EMS response system, under medical oversight.

In an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification program, participants learn to deliver emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients outside of a hospital setting within the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) system. EMTs acquire fundamental knowledge and skills essential for stabilizing and securely transporting patients, covering scenarios from routine medical transports to life-threatening emergencies.

Emergency Medical Technicians perform interventions with the basic equipment typically found on an ambulance and are a critical link between the scene of an emergency and the health care system.
