New Programs Coming to Rio

Coming this fall of 2023, Rio Grande will offer four new academic offerings. The university will offer a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience, a Bachelor of Science in Public Health, an Associate of Technical Studies in Cybersecurity, and a Certified Financial Advisor. All of these offerings will be a blend of online and in-person at Rio Grande’s Main Campus. These additions come at a time when Rio is continuing to grow and offer new opportunities to students.

“I am very excited these new academic offerings open up more opportunities for students at Rio,” said Lynley Carey, Dean of the College of Art & Science.

The Certified Financial Advisor certificate can only be completed if a student is enrolled in or has completed a bachelor’s degree. This offering gives students the option to work as a financial advisor or planner. The Bachelor of Science in Public Health gives students the option to work at their local health department, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), amongst others to solve and navigate community health challenges. The Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience gives students the option to work as laboratory technicians, health educators, or continue to medical school. The Associate of Technical Studies in Cybersecurity gives students the opportunity to work for the government or a private corporation to assist in the efforts of preventing digital attacks.

“I am very pleased to have these new academic offerings at Rio—especially the Public Health degree. We have seen over the past few years while navigating through a pandemic that having public health workers is crucial,” said Dr. Stephanie Wells-Mullins, Dean of the College of Professional & Technical Studies.
