Share your creativity and help brighten the main campus of the University of Rio Grande!

Our first ever mural competition has begun and we’re looking for creative painters to paint a beautiful mural that captures the spirit our RIO FAMILY! Your murals could include themes of Rio Grande, Welsh Heritage, Southeastern Ohio history and more! 

No AI or other computer-generated designs will be accepted. Only original hand drawn or digitally drawn submissions, please!

We hope to make our beautiful Rio Grande Campus the perfect place for a photo op! The “Rio Mural Project” is an exciting mural contest that combines art, community, and philanthropy. Artists will compete for their designs to take center stage on the Rio campus. The 20’ by 10’ wall will display the winning artwork chosen by combination of votes and dollars raised. Current students, alumni, faculty, and community members are all invited to enter the contest.

The artwork should represent University of Rio Grande and Rio Grande Community College and its culture and heritage.

Timeline:
Submissions Accepted Through: March 1
Voting: Summer
Winner Announced: TBD
Artwork Installed: Upon completion of new curtain in the Fine Arts Center

Guidelines:
Focus on positive aspects of Rio, its rich history, alumni, and students
Art should be scaled to accommodate the 20'x10' area
Avoid depictions of well-known figures, especially those still living
Avoid overtly political messages or depictions of political parties or figures
Avoid simple, single-subject photography
No depictions of drugs, alcohol, nudity, violence or profanity
Avoid company logos and other trademarked or copyrighted symbols or images
