Why I chose Rio: I chose Rio because of the baseball program and meeting Coach Warnimont. I was also familiar with the campus because my dad studied and played sports here at Rio.
Deciding my major: I’ve always been good at math so I felt like that was a good area for me to continue my studies, especially since there is a need for more math teachers. My dad is also a teacher and coach, so I was inspired to follow in his footsteps.
My favorite thing about Rio: I’ve been able to make a lot of friends here on campus. Before I came to Rio, it was mostly just my brother and me, so I’ve enjoyed that we’ve being able to connect with new people that we’ll stay in touch with for the rest of our lives. I also love being a part of the baseball team and the comradery with my teammates.
My favorite class: I really enjoyed Linear Algebra with Dr. Bonawitz. It’s an upper-level math class that has been a lot of fun while still challenging me with new concepts I haven’t studied before.
Plans after graduating from Rio: After I graduate, I want to get my master’s degree in coaching and leadership. Then I plan on going back home to teach and coach with my dad. I want to be an influence for the young talent that we have in my area and continue building up my high schools sports programs.
