When did you graduate from Rio? May 2005
What was your major? Visual Art Comprehensive
What made you choose Rio? Rio was close to home, I had family members attend Rio and many of my friends went there as well. For me it was the best option both financially and geographically.
What was your best professional experience at Rio (exhibition, recital, performance, presentation, project, etc.)? There were 3 top experiences while studying at Rio. 1) Putting together our Senior Show exhibit and Reception, where I had the opportunity to see my work from the fours years in
the Art program in the museum setting, and getting to enjoy that with my friends, family and fellow students. 2) Winning Best of Show with my Mixed Media Sculpture, during my senior year student exhibition. 3) Traveling Abroad with the Master Program Class, getting to experience Rome, Venice, Pompeii, and Florence. It was absolutely remarkable and I will cherish the memories forever.
What was your favorite course at Rio…and why? Again a very difficult question! Photography Ceramics, Figure Drawing, and Printmaking were all good courses, but now that I am older Art History is something that still sticks with me every day. Just understanding the greats and how trends would run through time is something good to know. I still have my 40 pound book and look through it from time to time.
