Mrs. Evans-she challenged me to do better.
Why did you choose Rio?
I wanted to stay close to family and friends and I was already familiar with the school, since I attended in 98-99.
What’s your best experience at Rio so far?
Being a part of the SEARCH Bible ministry and exploring the world of art.
What’s your greatest achievement as a student?
Knowing I helped others along the way and not just myself.

My background is in construction and I love building things, problem solving, and working with tools.

I most enjoyed taking sculpture because it allows me to express my passion for art and building.

I have lots of job possibilities that I will apply for which will allow me to use my background in design and sculpture. In ten years I hope to be still enjoying my job and pushing my skills to new limits.
What’s the best part of being a student?
Interacting with a variety of people while expanding my understanding of the world around me and how I can be successful in it and be a positive influence.
What’s the worst?
There isn’t a worst. There are simply uncomfortable moments but they later also provide endurance for harder test in life.
What advice would you give to incoming Freshmen?
Never chase a degree for the money or because someone suggested that would be best for you. Think about the inner passion, skills and talents that you posses and what job would allow you to develop and use those skills in a way that is rewarding to you. It is better to have less money and have an adventure enjoying your job than more money and be miserable because you hate your job. Allow yourself time to mature and take opportunities to experience new things. All of my prior experiences strengthened me, matured me and lead me to understand what I want to do at this point in my life. I never gave up on finishing a degree that was meaningful to me.
If you could move anywhere, where would you go?
Wherever the good Lord leads me.
The Bible, it gives me great insight and direction in life.
I find it a waste of time clinging to famous quotes from people I never really knew. It’s not the words that made any individual successful, it was their actions. So I take it upon myself to be a man focused on action rather than words.
What’s the one thing that most people don’t know about you?
I’m taller than average.
