What are your plans after graduation?

I intend to continue my education with a masters and maybe a doctorate in Music.

Where did you go to grow up and where did you go to high school (and/or other colleges)?
I moved around a lot, but WV is the longest state I’ve lived in. I graduated from Point Pleasant High School in 2015.

Did you grow up with siblings or pets?
I have four brothers and five sisters with many pets throughout my childhood ranging from horses to hamsters.

What was your best experience in high school?
Being able to perform and compete in music competitions.

Who was your most influential high school teacher?
Crystal Hendricks

Why did you choose Rio?
I received a music scholarship and it is close to home.

What’s your best experience at Rio so far?
Going to Chicago with The Grande Chorale my freshmen year.

What’s your greatest achievement as a student?
Seeing my progress as a musician and being able to help undergraduates with things that I struggled with.

Why did you choose to major in Music?
I want to further my education with a masters in Music Therapy or Vocal Performance.

What was your favorite course at Rio so far…and why?
Speech Communication, with Adjunct Professor Alice Taylor. She made it educational, fun, and stress-free. The whole class enjoyed each day and we all had fun together.

What do you plan to do after graduation? Where do you see yourself in ten years?
Take a year off and then continue my education. I see myself working in a hospital setting as a music therapist or teaching at a collegiate level.

What’s the best part of being a student?  Growing as a person

What’s the worst? THE STRESS!!!

What advice would you give to incoming Freshmen?
Don’t be afraid to switch your major or have different ideas for what you want for your future. It’s hard to know what you want to do with the rest of your life at such a young age.

If you could spend the day with any fine artist, writer or intellectual, living or dead, who would it be?
Hmmm, too hard of a question. There are so many inspirational people out in the world I could never pick one.

What is your favorite book: Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas

Favorite musician: Beyonce and Ella Fitzgerald

Favorite movie: The Hobbit & The Lord of the Ring

Favorite food: It’s a tie between bacon and fried chicken

If you could move anywhere, where would you go? New Zealand

What’s the one thing that most people don’t know about you? I love to write. One day I’d like to be a NY Times best-selling author!
