Rio Grande Veterans Organization

Our mission is to serve as an advocate and comprehensive support apparatus for the Student Veteran and the Student Veteran families attending the University of Rio Grande/Rio Grande Community College by providing information, networking opportunities, and guidance to aid the Veterans’, their families and our non-traditional students’ intellectual and professional success.

This group brings together the LGBTQIA community on campus and advocates for inclusion and equality within the Rio family.

Jazz Ensemble

The Rio Jazz Ensemble is made up of University students and community members. An audition is required to join the ensemble. The instrumentation of the Ensemble varies from semester to semester, and in addition to arrangements of classic jazz songs written especially for the ensemble, original compositions by the members are encouraged and performed. The focus of the combo is on musicianship and improvisation. The Jazz Ensemble performs in two to three concerts each year.

Student Programming Board

The Student Programming Board is comprised of student leaders interested in enhancing the college experience by planning most campus events. SPB provides many activities that are recreational, educational and cultural throughout the academic year to accommodate the diverse interests of the students of Rio Grande. Membership is open to all students of the University of Rio Grande.

Student Alumni Association

The members of the Student Alumni Association are students recognized as hardworking, reliable and outstanding campus leaders. These members work together to connect students of Rio Grande – past, present and future. SAA provides opportunities in service, leadership development, career development, student recruitment and social events consistent with this mission. Membership is open to all students of the University of Rio Grande.

Grande Chorale

Grande Chorale is one of the premiere musical ensembles on campus. The group performs primarily vocal jazz, with 8-12 vocalists and the Rio Combo of bass, drums, and piano. The group frequently tours within and outside the state of Ohio and performs for collegiate events. Membership is by audition only. Auditions occur in the late spring and early fall of each academic year.

Bass Fishing Club

The purpose of the Bass Fishing Club shall be to encourage camaraderie, sportsmanship, integrity, conservation, and development of the skills and knowledge needed to be successful anglers by competing with other schools in Cabela’s Collegiate Bass Fishing, Fishing League Worldwide and Bass Anglers Sportsman Society fishing tournaments and other fishing tournaments on a local and regional basis. Membership is open to any student in good standing with the University of Rio Grande.

The Gaming Organization

The mission of the Rio Gaming Organization is to promote the expansion of the gaming community as well as the networking between gamers. Game genres include, but are not limited to console games, PC games, board games, card games, role-play games and miniatures. Membership is open to all students of the University of Rio Grande.
