Symphonic Band

The University of Rio Grande Symphonic Band consists of approximately 55-65 musicians that meet Thursday evenings 7-9 on the Fine and Performing Arts Stage. The group performs several concerts throughout the academic year including the New Student Orientation Program, annual Fall and Spring Concerts, Commencement Events as well as combining with area Community Bands for concerts. Concert programming includes many band classics, Broadway show tunes, music from movies, jazz and multicultural pieces. No audition is required for membership.

Rock Ensemble

The Rio Rock Ensemble is a student ensemble consisting of guitars, bass, drums, keyboards, and vocalists and specializing in classic rock music. An audition is required. The ensemble will perform in two concerts on campus each year, in addition to performances off campus at area schools, fundraising benefits, and other community events.

Pep Band

This is strickly a volunteer group that performs at many home basketball games. No audition required. The Pep Band performs for the first time at the Bevo Francis Tournament weekend and then in the second semester games beginning in January. Most games are on weekends however some weekday events are scheduled. Shown here are some of the members participating in the annual Homecoming Parade.

Masterworks Chorale

The Masterworks Chorale is a regional chorus comprised of 40-60 University of Rio Grande/Rio Grande Community College students and community members.  This group performs standard works from the choral repertoire, including larger works such as Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass (Mass No. 11 in D Minor) and smaller collections of pieces, like traditional spirituals and musical theater compilations.

Friends of the Davis Library

The mission of the Friends of the Davis Library is to enrich the cultural, social, and intellectual life of the University of Rio Grande and Rio Grande Community College as well as the community-at-large. Its membership extends beyond the campus community and is open to anyone who is interested in helping the organization fulfill its goals.
