Mission

The mission of the Holzer School of Nursing is to provide the learner with the opportunity to attain a high quality and high value education. To this end the Holzer School of Nursing provides the learner the knowledge and skills necessary to meet challenges and opportunities encountered in the nursing profession. An emphasis on the unique lifelong learning needs of the learner in the Holzer School of Nursing will promote successful careers, and professional citizenship.

The School of Nursing strives to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the challenge and opportunities encountered in the nursing profession. Recent emphasis on promotion of health, prevention of illness, as well as advances in caring for the ill, has opened new areas of employment and has created added responsibilities for practicing nurses.

Assessment

Assessment of End of Program Student Learning Outcomes Associate Degree Nursing

Assessment of end of program student earning outcomes is an on-going process within the University of Rio Grande-Holzer School of Nursing A variety of activities  are used to assess student learning.

Licensure Examination Pass Rate – performance on the NCLEX-RN for first-time test takers

Program Completion Rate- Percentage of students who graduate within a defined period of time. The definition used by ACEN for the program Completion rate is the number of students who complete the program in no more than 150% of the stated program length beginning with enrollment in the first nursing course.

Job Placement Rate- Percentage of graduates responding to a graduate survey who were employed in a position for which the prepared them in six-12 months after graduating.

Military

Credits from other institutions will transfer based on the policies and the procedures documented in the college catalog. The transfer of nursing course credits will be assessed on a case by case basis using student learning outcomes, course requirements and the curriculum plan to determine eligibility. The program reserves the right to determine the acceptability of nursing transfer credits in accord with its mission and goals. Transfer credit for nursing courses will not be considered for transfer if the student has failed any nursing courses in their previous programs. Military credit will transfer if appropriate to the requirement s of the curriculum plan for the program. The Joint Services Transcript will be used to determine transfer credit eligibility.

  • The LPN-RN bridge programs are for current licensed practical nurses only.
  • There is no application deadline for LPN-RN On-Campus or Online. Applications will be accepted until all entrance exam seats are filled.
