    HICKORY, N.C. – Junior Zack Collins posted a pair of top 10 performances to pace the University of Rio Grande men's track & field team at the Southside Power and Fitness Invitational, which closed out its two-day run on Saturday at Lenoir-Rhyne University.
    Collins, a native of Newark, Ohio, was the runner-up in the hammer throw with a toss of 46.30m, while also placing 10th in the discus throw with an effort of 37.60m.

    HICKORY, N.C. – Chanavier Robinson had a pair of top five finishes and Beyonce Bobbitt had two top 10 outings to lead the University of Rio Grande women's track & field team at the Southside Power and Fitness Invitational, which wrapped up its two-day run on Saturday at Lenoir-Rhyne University.
    Robinson, a junior from Ravenna, Ohio, placed second in the long jump with a leap covering 5.44, while also placing fifth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.59.
    Bobbitt, a freshman from West Milton, Ohio took third in the discus throw after a toss of 40.71m and was 10th in the shot put with an effort of 11.09m.

[Baseball] Rio records record-setting rout of CCU

    FLORENCE, Ky. – For all intents and purposes, the final outcome of Friday's River States Conference baseball meeting between the University of Rio Grande and Cincinnati Christian University had already been determined by the time that the RedStorm came to bat for their ninth and final time.
    What followed, though, was an inning of historic proportion for head coach Brad Warnimont's program.
    The RedStorm sent 22 batters to the plate and scored 16 times to put the wraps on a 26-3 shellacking of the Eagles at UC Health Stadium.
    Rio Grande improved to 17-10 overall and 4-3 in the RSC with the victory.
    Cincinnati Christian slipped to 7-16 overall and 3-4 in league play.

[Softball] RedStorm opens conference play with sweep

    RIO GRANDE, Ohio – The University of Rio Grande softball team opened its home schedule and River States Conference play in successful fashion, sweeping a doubleheader from Asbury University on Friday afternoon at Rio Softball Park.
    The RedStorm, playing for the first time in nearly two weeks, improved to 10-8 overall and 2-0 in conference play after defeating the Eagles by scores of 3-1 and 8-2.
    Asbury slipped to 3-9 overall and 0-2 in the RSC with the losses.

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of Rio Grande senior Jaida Carter was named to the 2019 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division II Women's Basketball All-America Third Team on Thursday.
    A 5-foot-6 guard New Philadelphia, Ohio, Carter was named River States Conference Player of the Year after leading the injury-riddled RedStorm to a 16-15 record.

[Men’s Bowling] Rio men’s bowling earns spot in NAIA Invitational

    RIO GRANDE, Ohio – The University of Rio Grande men's bowling team has received an at-large bid to the 3rd Annual NAIA National Invitational Tournament, scheduled for March 28-30, at West Ridge Lanes & Family Fun Center in Topeka, Kan.
    Twelve men's teams and 12 women's teams qualified for the 2019 invitationals. The automatic qualifiers were determined by conference championship winner and at-large bids were determined by their rating the final rating.
    Rio Grande, whose program is in just its second season, made the field based on their No. 12 ranking in the final Collegebowling.com Power Rankings.

[Softball] Rio softball receives votes in NAIA coaches’ poll

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Rio Grande softball team is among those who received votes in the first NAIA coaches' poll of the 2019 regular season.
    The RedStorm, who were also among those who received votes in the preseason coaches' poll, collected eight  points – good enough for the equivalent of 37th place – in the balloting by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and the Association of Independent Institutions.

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of Rio Grande redshirt sophomore Raul Timoner is among those named to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) 2019 Daktronics NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Scholar-Athletes list.
    The native of Alaior, Spain was among 179 student-athletes recognized by the national office on Monday.
