    WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – Zack Collins and Dean Frietag each posted a win, while two of their teammates had a pair of Top 10 showings to lead the University of Rio Grande men's track and field team at the University of the Cumberlands Invitational and Distance Carnival, which wrapped up its two-day run on Saturday afternoon.
    Collins, a junior from Newark, Ohio, took the top spot in the hammer throw with a toss of 49.89m, while Freitag – a sophomore from Magnolia, Ohio – was the winner in the 5,000-meter race walk with a time of 24:08.68. Collins' effort established a new school record in the event, while Freitag also hit the "B" qualifying standard for the NAIA National Championships, which will take place in Gulf Shores, Ala.

    CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio – The University of Rio Grande jumped to a pair of early leads and cruised to a doubleheader sweep of Ohio Christian University, Saturday afternoon, in River States Conference baseball action at Olson Field.
    The RedStorm finished off the series sweep, taking the twin bill by scores of 7-3 and 5-0.
    Rio Grande improved to 30-15 overall and 14-7 in conference play as a result of the sweep.
    Ohio Christian finished the day at 11-27 overall and 4-16 in the RSC.

    KENNEDY TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Kelsey Conkey tossed a three-hit shutout, while Lexi Philen and Michaela Criner clubbed solo home runs to give the University of Rio Grande a 2-0 game one win over Point Park University, Saturday afternoon, in River States Conference softball action at Fairhaven Park.
    The host Pioneers handed the RedStorm their first conference loss in the nightcap, rallying for a pair of sixth inning runs to record a 2-0 victory.
    Rio Grande finished the day at 25-11 overall and 13-1 inside the RSC.
    Point Park moved to 16-15 overall and 9-5 in league play.

    CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio – Dylan Shockley had four hits and drove in three runs, while Gustavo Nava added two hits and three RBI of his own to lead the University of Rio Grande in a 14-3 mercy rule-shortened victory over Ohio Christian University, Friday afternoon, in River States Conference baseball action at Olson Field.
    Junior Eli Daniels (Minford, OH) and senior Roanderson Severino (Reading, PA) added two hits and two RBIs each for the RedStorm, who improved to 28-15 overall and 12-7 in conference play.
    Ohio Christian slipped to 11-24 overall and 4-14 inside the RSC.

[Baseball] RedStorm rallies to earn split with Campbellsville

    CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – David Rodriguez hit a go-ahead RBI single to cap a two-run seventh inning rally and lift the University of Rio Grande to a 4-3 game two win over Campbellsville University, Wednesday night, in non-conference baseball action at HIG Field.
    The RedStorm's come-from-behind win came on the heels of a 17-10 shellacking by the Tigers in the opening game.
    Rio Grande finished the day at 27-15 with the split.
    Campbellsville, which like the RedStorm was among the schools receiving votes in the latest NAIA coaches' Top 25 poll, moved to 20-14.

[Softball] RedStorm climbs in latest NAIA softball poll

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Rio Grande softball team continues to inch its way back toward the NAIA Coaches' Top 25.
    The RedStorm received 33 points – moving from the equivalent of 34th place to 29th place – in the latest poll released Tuesday by the national office.
    The poll is the result of voting by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and the Association of Independent Institutions.
    Rio Grande currently sits at 24-10 overall and 12-0 in the River States Conference heading into league games this weekend at Carlow University and Point Park University.

[General] Wheaton’s Francis wins Bevo Francis Award

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Wheaton (Ill.) College's Aston Francis has been named the winner of Small College Basketball's 2019 Bevo Francis Award.
    The announcement was made online via a video presentation during Monday night's NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament championship game.
    The award, which is named in honor of legendary Rio Grande College standout Clarence "Bevo" Francis, is presented annually to the player who has had the finest overall season within Small College Basketball (NCAA Divisions II and III; NAIA Divisions I and II; USCAA Divisions I and II; and NCCAA Divisions I and II).
    Considerations for the award include season statistics and individual achievements, awards, personal character and team achievements.
