1. What made you choose to pursue a college education at Rio Grande?
I first began my college education as a high school student when I enrolled in the Post Secondary Education program. After I graduated high school, I hadn’t quite decided on a career path, so I tested the waters at another University. Rio always felt like home to me, and when I finally decided that I wanted to pursue an Elementary Education degree, I knew that I wanted to come back and finish my degree.
2. How involved were you on Rio’s campus?
I was a Rio Grande Cheerleader, and Vice President of the campus club Council for Exceptional Children.
3. What did Rio offer you besides an education?
Rio not only offered me an exceptional education, but the opportunity to meet people and build personal and professional relationships that I will hold dear for the rest of my life.
4. What are some of your favorite Rio memories?
Some of my very best friends attended Rio, so the fun memories are too numerous to count. However, the moment that meant the most to me was having the opportunity to come back and deliver the Commencement address to the 2016 graduating class during my time as Miss Ohio USA. That was one of my proudest moments of my life.
5. What did you learn about yourself during college?
College is your first experience out in the ‘real world’ and I believe it taught me that hardwork, dedication, (and the occasional sleepless night), are key factors that push you forward to reach your goals.
6. Do you have any advice for current students?
My advice for the current students is to dream big and work hard. You will never have these moments and opportunities back that are available to you right now. Have a vision of the life you want to live and stop at nothing until you achieve it. Your possibilities are truly endless.
