Production typing is stressed in this course with emphasis on training students for a medical office assistant position. This course is designed for the development of a high degree of competence in the use of medical terminology and in the keying of medical documents, forms, and correspondence. The students will also gain hands-on experience in medical record keeping for a physician’s office through the use of a computerized and manual patient billing and recordkeeping simulation. Students are expected to attain a speed of 55-65 wpm for five minutes. Prerequisite: OT 10403. One-hour lecture, four-hour lab. Course fee required.
