Topics include: a review of chemical bonding and acid-base chemistry and their applications to organic compounds; organic functional groups and infrared spectroscopy; the reactions and properties of alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, alkyl halides, alcohols, and ethers; stereochemistry; NMR spectroscopy; properties and mechanisms of substitution, elimination, addition, radical, and oxidation-reduction reactions. Three-hour lecture. Prerequisite: CHM 15505.
