Why Rio? I started at Rio for the billing and coding program. The staff was so supportive and encouraging that I decided to go on for my bachelor’s in healthcare administration. I chose Rio because I felt that the faculty genuinely cared about my goals and aspirations. The small class sizes allow one on one attention that cannot be found in every academic institution.

What led you to your major/career? I recently graduated in May 2018 with an associate degree in Business, and a coding certificate. I’m currently working on my bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration. I chose this career because I enjoy working in healthcare and I find it very rewarding to be able to help others. I love this community and feel I can best give back using my education earned at Rio Grande University.

Activities, hobbies, and things you do in your free time? I love gardening, hiking, and spending time with my family.

Any words of encouragement for students? Don’t ever give up. Always be open to learning more and always work hard.
