All students are encouraged to have insurance (hospitalization) coverage through either the student policy or other insurance.
Brochures explaining the student insurance policy may be obtained in the Department of Health Services. Applications for the student policy may also be obtained in the Health Services. After completing the application for the student insurance policy, the form should be mailed directly to the insurance company.
The University of Rio Grande requires insurance for all International students.
The student insurance (health and accident) plan covers partial costs of emergency care, limited x-ray and laboratory services as well as limited hospitalization, surgery, medication and ambulance service. The Department of Health Services may provide assistance in filing student insurance claims. Whether covered by private or student insurance, students and their families are responsible for the balance of medical expenses not covered by their insurers.
