Over the years how many different courses have you taught?
About 22

What is your favorite course to teach at Rio…and why?
I am enjoying teaching Precalculus this semester.

In your discipline (i.e., math).  what individual (or two or three) would you most like to spend a day with so you could pick their brain?  (you can choose someone no longer walking the planet…)
I would like to meet Blaise Pascal. He has a place in the history of mathematics and physics and computing as well as Christianity.

What is your favorite food?
Anything Dr. Agashe prepares -- Gulab Jamb, Burfee, Kheer, Shira, Ladu, Gajar Halva, Karanji, Upama, Thalipeeth, Batata Vada, Vangyache Kap, Mugachi Khichadi, Sabudanyachi Khichadi, Idali, Dosa, Chivada, etc.

What is your favorite all-time movie (or two)?
The Notebook has to be my favorite (or least favorite). A little over a year ago my niece was taking a writing course for her B.S. at Ohio University. For a quarter-long project, she analyzed the movie and during those ten weeks we watched and discussed it many, many times. My husband and I have watched the National Treasure movies several times and always enjoy them.

What is your favorite hobby/past-time activity?
I enjoy reading and walking (not at the same time). This past summer I purchased a bike and have added occasional bike-riding to my activities. We have four cats and a German shepherd mix -- they would say caring for and interacting with them must be our very favorite past-time!

If you were not a “blank” (as in a math professor), what would you like to do as a profession—disregarding whether it paid more or less than what you are making now?"
I would be a counseling psychologist.

Describe the one aspect of teaching you like the least.  (Preparing exams and/or quizzes? Grading?  Preparing a syllabus?  Developing a new course?  Lectures?  Labs?  Other?)
I like grading the least. I would prefer that students study and learn all that they can without exams.

How many years did it take you to earn your B.S. degree?
I earned the Bachelor degree in four years.

What century did your earn your B.S. degree in?
I earned the B. S. degree in the 20th century!

What set of circumstances resulted in your becoming a professional in math education?
My high school math teacher encouraged me to attend college and major in mathematics. I attended a small, rural high school. We had good teachers and they were a positive influence on students. Over 10% of our graduating class chose careers as educators.

If you could choose to live anywhere else on this planet (i.e., not counting Rio Grande), where would it be and why?
I have lived most of my life in this geographic area and I enjoy living here in Gallia County. I would choose to stay in the U. S. but I might like to try another state – Virginia.

Identify one “thing” from “the good old days.”
In spite of today’s technology, I long for the days when people communicated face-to-face or at least by speaking with one another. For example, yesterday when I walked by the circle in Kidd Math and Science Center, 4 out of 6 students sitting there were staring at their phones.

What is your favorite quote?

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed for His compassions never fail;they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

Lamentations 3:22-23
