      Biology Major

How long have you been attending at Rio?
I have been attending Rio for 5 years.

Over the years how many different courses in the School of Sciences have you taken? (Estimate if you can’t remember exactly)
13 courses

What one science course—not counting this semester—was the one that you have found the most fascinating/interesting so far at Rio…and why?
Organic chemistry - I found the mechanisms by which compounds react to be quite fascinating.

In your discipline (i.e., biology, chemistry, computer science, environmental science, math, etc.) what individual (or two or three) would you most like to spend a day with so you could pick their brain? (you can choose someone no longer walking the planet…)
Rosalind Franklin and Alexander Fleming

What is your favorite food?
Chicken & Noodles

What is your favorite hobby/past-time activity?

Describe the part of taking a course you like the most. (For example: sitting in on lecture, participating in a lab, the taking an exam, writing a term paper, etc.). Why?
Participating in lab - Observing how the concepts taught in lecture and applied to the everyday world is often essential to gaining a complete understanding of the information being taught. Besides, some of the things done in the lab are very interesting.

If you could go anywhere in the U.S. for your first job as a professional, where would it be?
Somewhere along the coast of North Carolina.

If you could give an incoming (i.e., freshman) science major one piece of advice of how to succeed (i.e., learn a bunch) during their undergraduate years at Rio, what would it be?
Success does not come easy; however, with motivation, dedication, and hard work you can meet or exceed all of your goals.

What is your favorite quote?
“A successful man is he who receives a great deal from his fellowman, usually incomparably more than corresponds to his service to them. The value of a man, however, should be seen in what he gives and not in what he is able to receive.” -Albert Einstein
