Lindsey Wilson Standout Joins RedStorm
Rio Grande Sports Information
A native of Guisborough, England, Fry graduated earlier this year from Lindsey Wilson College with a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education and Health.
During her four-year playing career with the Blue Raiders, Fry appeared in 89 games and finished with 32 goals, 13 assists and 77 points. She was a first team All-Mid-South Conference selection in both 2010 and 2012 and was also an Honorable Mention All-America pick in 2010.
"Elisha's from an area close to where I'm from in England, but I didn't know here until after we got over (to the United States)," Morris said. "Of course, we watched her play at Lindsey Wilson and, once she graduated and got the opportunity to become a Graduate Assistant, I made a push to make her part of our staff here at Rio. I think she can be a big part of helping us push our program forward."
In addition to her playing time at Lindsey Wilson, Fry also played for Sunderland WFC and Leeds United Ladies. She also represented England in the under-19's.
"Sunderland is a strong ladies' program back in England and most everyone in our conference knows she was a very good player at Lindsey," said Morris. "The kind of experience she brings – particularly as a player on the women's side – really adds depth to our coaching staff. We're hoping that our girls will take in what she has to offer because she's been to the place they want to get to. Plus, I think the fact that she's the first female we've had on staff during my tenure here is important."
Fry's previous coaching experience includes two seasons as a youth league coach. She will be actively involved in day-to-day operations, including the planning of training sessions.
