1965

Bob Leith will present on General Robert E. Lee at The Sherman House Museum 2013 Civil War Symposium: Vicksburg & Gettysburg, Was Either Battle a Game-changer? September 27, 28 and 29.

1974

Pamela Black Matura, Executive Director of the Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7), was awarded a special Lifetime Achievement Award from the Ohio Association of Gerontology and Education (OAGE) at their recent conference at Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio.

1994

Chad Lambert’s Possum At Large was nominated for comics' second highest honor, the Harvey Award. He received a nomination in the Humor category for the Possum At Large 10th Anniversary Craptacular.

1996

Phyllis Howe Mason was recently named Administrator Emeritus by the University of Rio Grande.  Ms. Mason retired from her position as Vice President of Human Resources for Rio after 28 years of service.

2002

Debra Eggers Browning was recently appointed to the position of Registrar for the University of Rio Grande.  

2003

Ellen Evans McCabe created a college-prep course at Wellston High School called Journeys which recently earned her the People Magazine’s Teacher of the Year.

Jana L. Fryman is currently the Program Coordinator for George Mason University and resides in Manassas, Virginia.

2005

Elizabeth Bynum has been hired as the Administrative Assistant, Rio Grande Community College. Elizabeth lives in Jackson with her husband, Micah, who works for Ohio Valley Bank. Both serve as pastors at the Jackson Church of God.

2008

Ryan Lemley has accepted an administration job with Warren Local Schools in Washington County, Ohio.

2009

Charles Winters, Assistant Professor of Information Technology in Rio Grande’s Evans School of Business, was recently granted tenure.

2011

Kelly Bonice was recently named Coordinator of Accessibility for the University of Rio Grande. Kelly resides in Bidwell, Ohio.

2012

Holly Motheral has accepted the position of head volleyball coach with the Taylor University in Upland, Indiana.

2013

Rachael Fraser recently announced her engagement to Michael McCartney ‘03. The couple, along with the groom’s son, Maverick, will make their home in Parkersburg, West Virginia.

Archie Spangler, Jr., has been hired by the University of Rio Grande as the Director of Workforce Development. Archie currently resides in Wellston, Ohio with his wife, Angela, and two daughters: Madison and Emily.

Lauren Raines announces her upcoming wedding to Jordan Hill ’03. Lauren is a registered nurse and Jordan is employed as a teacher and coach at Alexander High School. 

Sabrina Hurt was recently promoted to Financial Aid Advisor for the University of Rio Grande.  She resides in Gallipolis, Ohio.

Paul J. Wooddell passed away on July 9, 2013.   He was a resident of Bel Air, Maryland where he taught history in Baltimore County.
