Les Misérables coming to Rio

RIO GRANDE, Ohio – Les Misérables, the world renowned musical theatre experience by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonberg, will grace the stage of the Berry Fine & Performing Arts Center on Aug. 16-18, compliments of the French Art Colony’s Riverby Theatre Guild.

The French Art Colony’s RTG obtained the rights to produce the Les Misérables last December and will be the first community theatre group in our region to produce the show.

The production is directed by Maggie Roach, with music direction by Steve Sisson, art direction by Jessica Sisson, and orchestra direction by Rio Grande professor Scott Michal. Set construction is led by local artist Dustin Beach.

Auditions for Les Misérables were held in March, with Gallia, Mason, Jackson and Meigs counties represented within the sizeable cast. Local actors in the leading roles include; Steve Sisson as Jean Valjean, Alyssa Russell as Fantine, Seth Arabright as Inspector Javert, Katelyn Beaver as Adult Cosette, Emma Perrin as Eponine, Ben Roach as Marius, and Maggie Kincaid as Young Cosette.
