R U OK? Day To Be Held September 14

September 12, 2017

National ‘R U OK? Day’ is Thursday, September 14. Student Affairs is asking students, staff, and faculty to wear yellow next Thursday in an effort to raise mental health awareness on our campus.  It's a national day of action and a reminder to regularly check in with family, friends, and coworkers. The idea behind this day is to encourage open and honest conversations and to prevent small problems from spiraling into big ones.

This year, we’re encouraging everyone to reconnect with someone they’ve lost touch with and to make more time for the people who matter to them. Why? Because quality time with those we care about makes it easier to start a meaningful conversation.

You have what it takes to make a difference. Just ask, “are you ok?” Listen, and don’t judge. Encourage action, and check in regularly.

Join us next Thursday morning from 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM in the Bob Evans Farms Hall rotunda area and/or the lobby in Wood Hall for coffee and donuts. We will also be set up in the cafeteria during lunch!

In the time it takes to share a cup of coffee, you can have a conversation that could make a significant difference to the way a person is feeling.
