Internship Opportunity at the Madog Center for Welsh Studies!

 

 

 

The Madog Center for Welsh Studies at the University of Rio Grande is actively seeking candidates for the position of Davis Intern. The position will begin in late July, 2014 and will terminate June 30, 2016.

The Davis Intern/Graduate Assistant will receive compensation in the form of full tuition and room & board and a small stipend towards a Master's Degree in Integrated Arts. This position requires a two year commitment to complete coursework for the program.

The intern will work approximately 20 hours per week supporting the activities and projects of the Welsh Center. A Bacelor's Degree in related field is required. Someone who is mature and articulte and enthusiastic about Wales and Welsh influences at an international level. Connections in Wales would be helpful. Must be first-language Welsh and able to teach workshops and classes in Welsh I & II. Musical ability and interest is a plus. We do not currently have an application deadline but would like to identify our new itern by late May, 2014.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in America and be an ambassador for Wales. Many of the Welsh-Americans who settled in this area in the 1800's came from Cardiganshire and we would embrace an intern from that area We also seek to find someone who enjoys working with young students in our Welsh Choir.
