Scholarship Opportunities
 

     The University of Rio Grande offers over 300 scholarship opportunities to support students in their educational endeavors. Many of these scholarships are provided through the kindness of Alumni and Friends of the university.  To apply, complete the URG General Scholarship Application below and return to the URG Financial Aid Office, P O Box 500, Rio Grande, OH 45674, or apply online through the link below.  Below the general scholarship application are listed scholarships that require a separate application.

Priority Deadline:  March 15
       This is the priority consideration date for institutional scholarships, grants, and student employment programs.  Applications may be submitted after this date but priority is given to those applications received by the priority date.  Submitting an application does not guarantee a scholarship.  The university will review applications to determine eligibility for the scholarships available.

Bernard V Fultz Scholarship
District Counselors Scholarship
One - 4 Year Full Tuition
Full-time student, entering the 2014-15 academic year; attends a high school in the four county (OH) service district of Gallia, Jackson, Meigs and Vinton; minimum GPA of 3.2/4.0 and a minimum ACT composite of 21 (or SAT of 990 CR/M); resume, letters of recommendation and an essay.

Rio Grande Community College Scholarship
Eleven - 2 Year Full Tuition only
Full-time student, entering the 2014-15 academic year; attends a high school in the four county (OH) service district of Gallia, Jackson, Meigs and Vinton; based on high school GPA, ACT or SAT test results; school and community involvement; selections are made from those students recommended by their high school guidance counselor.

University of Rio Grande Scholarships

The Austin E. Knowlton Memorial Scholarship: You must be a graduating student from a Logan County, Ohio high school; have a declared major in mathematics or a related field; 3.00 or higher cumulative GPA at the high school level.
Chi-Omega Alpha-Chapter of Athena
Applicants must be an active member of the Chi Omega Alpha-Chapter of Athena Sorority.  Please note that all scholarship awards are on a first come, first serve basis.  Student’s financial need will be considered when selecting recipient(s).  All information must be completed on the application to be considered for scholarship selection.
Choose Ohio First STEMM Scholarship (Deadline: April 1, 2014)
Awards: range from $1,500 to $5,200 per academic year
The purpose of the COF STEMM Scholarship Program is to promote student enrollment in the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine (including educational fields with concentrations in STEMM disciplines).

Applicants must be:
Full-time URG/RGCC students
Students pursing degrees in STEMM-related fields
Student who have demonstrated superior academic achievement possessing a 3.0 cumulative GPA at point of application and maintain a 3.0 for continuing eligiblility

Fraternal Order of Archon Alumni Scholarship
Applicants must be an active member of the Archon Fraternity.  Please note that all scholarship awards are on a first come, first serve basis.  Student’s financial need will be considered when selecting recipient(s).  All information must be completed on the application to be considered for scholarship selection.

Dill-Arnold-Cutler Scholarship
You must be a graduate of a Meigs County Ohio high school to be eligible for this award

University of Rio Grande Scholarship Challenge
You must be a first time freshmen entering the 2014-2015 academic year.
You must be a full-time student and reside on campus.
University of Rio Grande Academic Excellence Award
Award ranging from $2,000 to $10,000
Full-time student  entering the 2014-15 academic year; out –of-state or international student, award based on GPA and/or standardized test score (ACT or SAT)

University of Rio Grande Art Scholarship
Award: 2 half tuition 4 year scholarships; 3 one-time $500 scholarships.
Full-time student majoring in Art or Art Education; by interview – contact department before March 2014.
University of Rio Grande Chemistry Academic Excellence Award
Award: 1-Full tuition award; 1-$2,000 award; and 1-$1,000 award
Full-time student entering the 2014-15 academic year; pursuing a major in chemistry.

University of Rio Grande Music Scholarship
1-full tuition; 1-$2,000; 1-$1,000
Full time student; by audition – contact department before March 2014.
