Poetry Writing and Performance Workshop

Time: 4:00 PM
Date: Wednesday, April 05, 2017
Location: Davis Library

Davis Library at the University of Rio Grande and Rio Grande Community College is hosting a free two-day poetry writing and performance workshop featuring local area native and poet Kathleen McCoy.

The dates for this two-day workshop are Monday, April 3, and Wednesday, April 5, 2017, in the Davis Library’s top floor classroom (DL205).  Each hour-long session will begin at 4 p.m. Advanced-registration is required and space is limited, so please sign-up early to guarantee your spot in the course. (To register, contact Amy R. Wilson, Director of the Davis Library, at 1.800.281.7201, ext. 7382.)

Following the final workshop session on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, and beginning around 5:30 p.m., a “poetry picnic” event entitled Splendor in the Grass: Celebrating the Worthiness of Words will take place outside on the lawn behind the library building. Free and open to the public, this poetry reading and open mic activity will offer plenty of opportunities for individuals to share readings of their favorite poems and other literary works.

URG’s Friends of the Davis Library, with support from both the Rio Grande Bookstore and the university’s English Honors Society (Sigma Tau Delta), is sponsoring this outdoor event and free refreshments while they last. In the case of inclement weather, the event will move inside to the Davis Library’s Main Floor.
