When did you start working at Rio? August, 2004

How did you choose a career at Rio? Moving back to Ohio. My mother had passed away and my dad needed someone to live with him and keep track of what was going on.

Where did you work prior to coming here? University of Michigan, School of Business in Ann Arbor, MI and before that University of Spring Arbor, Spring Arbor, MI.

What offices have you worked in? At Rio, in the School of Business, Fine Arts and Wood Hall.

What work are you most proud of doing during your time at Rio? I enjoy working with all of the students and faculty.

What is your favorite part of your joband why? All of it!

Whats the part you could really do without? When we had to do inventory.

What is your favorite memory of a student at Rio? There are quite a few students, can’t name one of them. 

What is your favorite memory of a faculty member at Rio? There are quite a few of them that I’m not going to forget – Ellen Brasel, Barb Boley, Karen Elliott, Scott Beekman, Ray Matura, Kent Williams, Marta Blackwood, just to name a few.

What is your favorite memory of another staff member at Rio? When I first started there were a couple of staff who I could call to find the answer to some process. They were Carolyn Harrison and Dawn Cummings.

If you could the spend the day with any historical figure, living or dead, who would it be?  Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865). I would love to talk with him on all sorts of ideas such as slavery.

What is your:

Favorite book: The White Pine Chronicles by Hilda Stahl, it is set in Michigan where I can literally know where things are happening.

Favorite artist: Any one that can create anything of beauty.

Favorite musician: John Williams (composer), such a creative person.

Favorite movie: The Neverending Story, 1984

Favorite food: Crab legs & shrimp.

If you could move anywhere, where would you go? When I retire, I’m moving back to Michigan to live with one of my daughters and be closer to family.

If you couldnt have a career in higher education, what would you do for a living? Not sure; I’ve been in higher education for at least 30 years.

What are your hobbies (outside your professional activity)? I love crocheting, sewing, and making German Stars. 

Do you share your home with family or pets? My dog, Buddy. He is a mix of Chihuahua, Dachshund, Pomeranian, and two other dogs but I’ve forgotten. He looks more like a Pomeranian.

Whats the one thing that most people dont know about you? When I was able to garden, canning the products (tomatoes, green beans, etc.)
