Annual Report 2005-2006

Annual Report 2005-2006 CoverA Message from the President

The University of Rio Grande is a place where connections are developed between students and
faculty; the institution and the community; countries and cultures; and interests and ideas.

At Rio Grande, we are proud of our student-centered philosophy. With our small classes, faculty can be more than just teachers to our students—they can become mentors, friends, and role models.

The institution also reaches out to the community with fine arts programs, athletics, and community service projects.

Students from fourteen countries and numerous states, along with a variety of travel and exchange offerings, provide ample opportunities for students to experience and learn about different cultures in our “flattened world.”

But, the best connection is the connection between a student and new ideas—which, is, of course, the purpose of higher education.

We hope to continue making connections well into the future. Your help and continued support will help ensure our success. Already, the Lighting the Way Campaign has transformed many aspects of our campus—from new programs and scholarships to the construction of new facilities and refurbishment of existing buildings.

Many of the year’s highlights are included in this annual report. I hope that you find them as exciting as I do.
