As you explore these pages and come to know more about our teaching and learning, you will see why Rio Grande is a university where students thrive.

The University of Rio Grande/Rio Grande Community College is a unique partnership between a public community college and a four-year comprehensive university.  Deeply rooted in Appalachian history, both institutions are committed to encouraging life-long learning, personal and professional growth, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and effective written and oral communication skills to students from the southeastern Ohio area, the state, the nation, and the world. Our unique partnership enables eligible students to experience the value-added educational experiences of a private university in a cost-effective manner not typically available at these institutions.  We seek to distinguish ourselves through innovative education and memorable student experiences. We are committed to enhancing the academic climate of the university through supporting, recognizing, and celebrating the scholarship and creative endeavors of students both inside and outside the classroom.

We offer more than 60 associate, bachelor, and graduate programs of study that reflect the diversity and creativity of our faculty and students. Our academic programs range from highly respected technical and professional programs in allied health, fine woodworking, nursing, education, business, and many others to high quality programs within the liberal arts and sciences, such as chemistry and wildlife and fish conservation. With over 2,300 graduate and undergraduate students, we are able to successfully blend personal direction and small classes associated with smaller schools with the academic opportunities of a larger university.

If you are new to Rio Grande, we hope that this virtual visit makes you want to come see us in person. If you already know us, please visit this site often for the latest news from campus.
